THE WAITER

Several of you might be aware that the Montreal Independent Film and TV Meetup Group has been instrumental in putting together the film project: The Waiter.

The casting is complete. On the 6th of April we had our storyboard shoot. Matthias was in charge of photography. Allan Nielsen was on site to analyse and discuss the lighting and other technical aspects.

Thanks for the great work and enthusiasm on the part of all those who participated in the storyboard shoot.

Dialogue rehearsal took place on the 27th of April, and we have a sense that the actors are delivering meaning not just words.

The actual shooting took place on the 3rd and 4th of May. Originally we scheduled to shoot only on Saturday the 3rd, with crew call time at 8:00 A.M. But to prove Jacques Bouchard right we shot also on Sunday. Somewhere in the background we will hear a passing parade. That's because there was a parade. Somewhere in the background we will hear pneumatic hammers drilling. That's because we were shooting Chez le Portugais on the Main. They are always tearing the Main apart. Wrap time was Sunday night 21:30, with take down still ahead.

In the meantime everything went well. Of course we had to deal with a few details. How do the plates get to the table, how do they get to leave the table? Sounded simple enough. We wanted to shoot a couple more shots but at the end of the day everyone was getting tired. When an actor broke into laughter at the wrong turn of a phrase, everyone joined in. The night was beginning to take its toll. But we managed to get our job done...all the cast, all the technical personnel...in a generous fashion.

The applause still reveberates in my mind: After a quick review with the script girl, Cynthia Ziernicki, I mustered an energetic: "It's wrap up time".

Thank you all...but there is more to come.

Second part consists of the pictures on the set taken by Matthias Elsdorfer. These pictures were taken with a Canon 40d. We can clearly see a style that is at the same time sensitive, candid, methodic and exploratory.

Third part consists of photographs taken by Micheal O'Mahoney. These pictures were taken with a Canon Powershot SD870 IS. Micheal's shots focus on the interaction between his subjects. Micheal's slogan: If it is "moving" shoot it. Would love to see Micheal with a more sophisticated camera.
